BOARD MATTERS
The following was reported to the August meeting of the Congregational Board.

CHURCH INFORMATION AND PROCEEDURES: A booklet in in preparation giving practical advice for the care of the Church building, furnishings.
LIFE OF THE CONGREGATION 2008: Copies of this booklet summarising the life and work of the congregation, approved by the Kirk Session now available at the Church or Church Office.
SWINE FLU: An advice note had been received from the Church of Scotland Ministries Council regarding swine flu. A summary of this will be published in the Kirk News.  It was agreed that the most useful precaution at the Church Centre was good hygiene. The Loaves and Fishes staff and the Catering Group all ensure good food and personal hygiene practice.
LOAN REPAYMENT: A letter from the General Trustees – Treasurer’s Department confirmed the final repayment of the Loan received from the General Trustees.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE: David Bale is the new contact person for this committee. A reminder was given of the  Picnic/BBQ on Sunday 23rd August at Castle Fraser.
FABRIC COMMITTEE: Thanks to  everyone who joined the Centre tidy-up recently.  Perspex has been fitted at all external windows at the Church, and also by the ‘sound desk’. A door-closer has been fitted between the Session house and the church.  The slater has carried out some work, more is still to be done. A thermostat has been fitted by the pulpit to protect the heating system from accidental overheating.
CHURCH CENTRE COMMITTEE: Lawrence Milne will be doing painting work before the end of the summer.

 

Session matters

SESSION MATTERS
 
  The following was discussed at the Kirk Session meeting in March.

NEW ELDERS: The Kirk Session has extended an invitation to a number of
prospective new Elders.
MISSION 2010: An update was given on plans for Pentecost in the Park.
SPECIAL COMMISSION: Papers have been sent to Kirk Session to discuss same sex relationships and how this affects the Ministry in the Church.
YOUTH WORKING GROUP: Plans are being made for a Summer Mission to teenagers with the help of Aberdeen Youth For Christ. Plans are also being made for a Summer Holiday Club for children.
WORLD CHURCH GROUP: Some of our young people will be visiting Minyara this summer to support their Summer Children’s Club and also take part in a Youth Camp.
GIRLS BRIGADE: A visit of Elders was made to the girls. Though low in number they are working well together. An appeal was made to advertiser the group wider.
ANNUAL STATISTICS: The membership of the congregation at the 31 Dec 2010 stands at 602. There were 8 Baptism of which 2 were adults. There were 2 weddings in 2010 ands 25 funerals (of which 8 were members).
ATTESTATION OF CHURCH BOOKS: Presbytery approved the keeping of minute books for Board and Session, Property and Safeguarding Registers and Roll Books.
SESSION REPRESENTATION ON ST ANNE’S VESTRY: Mrs Pam Pashley was appointed as our representative.
AREA GROUP REPORT: Ministers would be exchanging pulpits on 21 March with congregational representatives visiting 2 weeks later. Plans are being made for a join service in September at Bellebeg, Upper Donside.
