Church and Community

CHURCH AND COMMUNITY

There are different ways of expressing our faith as Christians and one of those is through practical and prayerful support of justice and fairness in the world about us, which we do through the following groups. Throughout the year special Sundays and events help us to raise awareness for these groups and give support.

Church of Scotland
Eco-Congregation

ECO-CONGREGATION

We are working towards becoming an Eco-Congregation. The aim is to encourage every group and member of the congregation to be aware of issues that affect our environment by encouraging careful use of our resources and recycling. A monthly Green Page will be found in the Kirk News. A Green Group meet to encourage environmental issues within the congregation.                                                              For information on our Green Group please click here

FAIR TRADE CHURCH

We are a Fair Trade Church which commits us to use Fair Trade goods as far as possible in all of our work. Fair Trade tea and coffee etc are to be found at the Loaves and Fishes and each group of the Congregation uses Fair Trade goods for refreshments.

Tearfund

TEAR FUND

Church Without Walls

CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS

Church without Walls was a report accepted by the General Assembly in 2001, aimed at providing a vision for the Church, relevant to every part of the Church and over many years. At its heart, it is about changing mindsets: From church focus to Christ focus - following Jesus to see what church forms round him. Kemnay Church embraced this and have use the material provided to drive us forward as a Church to be more relevant for today.

CHRISTIAN SOLIDARITY

Every year we remember the work of this organization which aims to make known the plight of many Christians overseas who are imprisoned or persecuted for their Faith. We try to have a speaker to tell us something of the work being done.                      For information on our Suffering Church Interest Group please click here.

Christian Solidarity World Wide
Scottish Bible Society

SCOTTISH BIBLE SOCIETY

Support for this group is given on the first Sunday in Advent when we remember the Gift of the Bible and the work of the Society in the world. We usually invite someone from the Bible Society to speak about the charity’s work.

Earl Haig Fund

EARL HAIG FUND

A retiring collection is taken at the Remembrance service in November to provide support for the care of those who have served our nation.

OTHER CHARITIES

The Congregation supports many other charities mainly through the Charity Box at the Loaves and Fishes Coffee Shop and also through the Loaves and Fishes Fund.
