CHURCH PROJECT

(Church Project Log) CHURCH PROJECT FINAL REPORT
‘Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise’ Ps 48:1

The Prayer of King David printed below was read at a recent meeting of the Congregational Board when the Finance and Stewardship Committee indicated that we were in a position of being able to pay all project costs of around £150,000, repay the £60,000 loan from the Church of Scotland while holding on to retention money as part of the contract. The Board agreed to make all payments. This means that no more fundraising for the project is needed and a new Reserve Fund would be opened all within such an amazingly short time.

We also learned that Aberdeenshire Council have issued the Building Warrant.

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power  and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for
everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head
over all.  Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.
Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything
comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. We are aliens and
strangers  in your sight, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.
O LORD our God, as for all this abundance that we have provided for building you a temple for your
Holy Name, it comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you.  I know, my God, that you test the
heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent.
And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here  have given to you.
O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep this  desire in the hearts of your people
forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you. And give my son Solomon
the wholehearted devotion to keep your commands, requirements and decree
and to do everything to build the palatial structure for which I have provided.
Then David said to the whole assembly, “Praise the LORD your God.” So they all praised the LORD, the God of their fathers; they bowed low and fell prostrate before the LORD and the king.
(1 Chronicles Chapter 29)

Like David we recognise that God is great and everything in heaven and earth are His and all we have comes from God. We acknowledge the generosity of God and give thanks to Him and praise His name. God looks for faith in His people and is pleased when we put our trust in Him. God also puts it into the hearts of his people to be willing to share in His work and this is what has happened.

The Church Project started about 2/3 years ago and worked started in September last year and completed in March of this year. That we have been able to complete this work and pay for it in such a short time is due to the goodness of God and the way he has worked in the hearts and hands of so many.

We would like to thank all, who being open to God’s Spirit, have been part of this work to give God glory through His Son Jesus Christ.
