The coffee shop was established at the beginning of 2001, not long after the Church Centre was opened. Since that time the number of people using it has exceeded our expectations. It provides a much needed meeting place for the village. Excellent “home-made” soups bread, jam, scones, cakes and pancakes are available, as well as a large variety of teas, coffees and juices. We also have sandwiches, toasties, wraps and paninis on the menu. Special dietary needs can usually be catered for. The view of the village and Bennachie is spectacular.
Loaves and Fishes is open to the public Tuesday to Thursday 10am - 4pm and on a Friday from 10am - 3pm.
During July and August we are also open on a Saturday from 10am - 3pm.
On Saturday 4th July we will be holding a Food Festival between 11am and 3pm with a BBQ supplied by Collies - our local butcher. We plan to have food tasting tables and some local food producers and craft stalls as well as fun stuff for kids. Entry of £6 for adults and £3 for children, will include 2 items from the BBQ and a browse round the tasting tables. (£15 for a family of 4)
The coffee shop is run by volunteers who give of their time, anything from 1 hour to a whole day. They do a large variety of jobs, including serving customers, baking, preparing soups, making sandwiches and toasties, cleaning, clearing tables, loading the dishwasher and various other jobs from Tuesday to Friday. On Mondays we have a team who prepare vegetables for soups, stock take, shop for supplies and clean. If you have any spare time, and wish to be involved with the team please contact Fiona or the office at the Church Centre
None of the walks take more than an hour, they are designed for all age groups and require nothing more than sensible footwear.
The walks around Kemnay leaflet is available from Loaves & Fishes for a donation of £1.00 to cover cost of printing.
Loaves & Fishes
Instead of taking tips, we have a charity box and each month a different charity is chosen to benefit from this. Any profits we make during the course of the year are available in the form of the Loaves and Fishes Fund which can be applied for from late November to the end of December to support forms of service at home and abroad. In addition to this, we currently sponsor a boy in India - Vignesh - to live in a hostel whilst he completes his education and also Jen Wright in the Congo who works with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
