Loaves & Fishes

 Loaves & Fishes  Fund

Once again, the Loaves & Fishes Fund distribution has been agreed. The fund (which is the surplus from our yearly takings) is to help encourage service at home and overseas. £2,500 has been shared between Gospel4Grampian, our partners (the Mortons) at a hospital in Malawi, 6 Academy students towards their overseas trip and a Uni student on a charitable trip to Kenya. This takes the total distributed through the Fund since 2002 to over £66,000 – a remarkable achievement for a small coffee shop, thanks to all our volunteers through the years.

Loaves and Fishes

The coffee shop was established at the beginning of 2001, not long after the Church Centre was opened. Since that time the number of people using it has exceeded our expectations. It provides a much needed meeting place for the village. Excellent “home-made” soups bread, jam, scones, cakes and pancakes are available, as well as a large variety of teas, coffees and juices. We also have sandwiches, toasties and paninis on the menu. Special dietary needs can usually be catered for. The view of the village and Bennachie is spectacular.

The Loaves and Fishes is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday 10.00 am - 4.00 pm. For Christmas (see notice boards)

Each month a charity is selected and all donations to our the charity box within Loaves & Fishes is sent on.

None of the walks take more than an hour, they are designed for all age groups and require nothing more than sensible footwear.

The walks around Kemnay leaflet is available from Loaves & Fishes for a donation.of £1.00 to cover cost of printing.

Walks from Centre

The coffee shop is run by volunteers who give of their time, anything from 1 hour to a whole day. They do a large variety of jobs, including serving customers, baking, preparing soups, making sandwiches and toasties, cleaning, clearing tables, loading the dishwasher and various other jobs from Tuesday to Friday. On Mondays we have a team who prepare vegetables for soups, stock take, shop for supplies and clean. If you have any spare time, and wish to be involved with the team please contact Rita or the office at the Church Centre

The Loaves and Fishes profits go to the Loaves and Fishes Fund. This is run by a group of volunteers, who annually look over applications (application forms can be obtained from the Loaves and Fishes or the Church Centre office) and decide which charities we should support projects at home and abroad. The staff take great pride in their efforts to assist raising these funds.

Catering such as morning coffee, light lunch and afternoon tea can be provided for groups by prior arrangement.
